Barret's first experience in construction began at an early age as a junior residential framer. After working up the ladder, and in his mid-twenties he and a partner started up a landscaping and renovations company primarily focused on constructing and remodeling decks, backyards, and basements. He then moved into cabinet making for restaurants and bars, and eventually into commercial construction and retrofits. After many years on the tools, Barret transitioned into various management roles, such as Project Director and Director of  Business Development and Marketing in both the Alberta Energy sector and Commercial Construction markets.

The decision to become a Calgary and area Home Inspector was an easy transition to make due to Barret's desire to help others achieve their dreams.
